"there are a lot of jumbled thoughts about this album. it was recorded in fits and starts and moments of clearheadedness between december 2017 and october of last year. most of the tracks on it were recorded before an overarching album structure was even beginning to make itself clear and it was only when i took stock of all the music i had recorded since the release of 'travels in public' that an album revealed itself. musically i tried to keep things more minimal and at the same time untangle my interests in writing actual 'songs' and doing the exact opposite of that. i hoped to give things more space in their own right which in turn i hope makes for a more engaging listening experience. in the end this album sort of feels like an accurate representation of the time it was recorded in; constantly pulling between structure and fluidity, the feeling of being chased versus the feeling of being helplessly stuck. it might not make sense at all times but i hope you like it anyway!"
